The district administration has chalked out a plan to penalise those violating traffic rules and also those who encroach upon roads, divisional commissioner Atul Prasad said on Tuesday.
Officials concerned, including Muzaffarpur district magistrate Dharmendra Kumar and senior superintendent of police Vivek Kumar, have been directed to execute the plan with full vigour.
Apart from imposing fines, the plan also entails shifting of fruit and vegetable hawkers to the nearby marts already provided to them by the municipal corporation.
"They will be persuaded and the help of local representatives of the corporation will be taken," the commissioner said.
The divisional commissioner directed sub-divisional officer (east) Sunil Kumar to make all autorickshaw stands on Jail Road, Pakkisarai, Companybagh, Zero Mile Chowk, Bairiya Chowk, Chandni Chowk free of encroachers.
Illegal parking will be checked and the district transport officer has been directed to levy penalty from offenders and violators, Prasad added.
Permits to run three-wheelers on prescribed roads should strictly be followed. Drivers of three-wheelers have been asked to ply their vehicles wearing uniforms. The administration will cancel the permits of the violators.
Muzaffarpur district transport officer Prabhat Kumar said two teams have been formed to crack the whip from September 22 on autorickshaw drivers and motorists parking illegally.
The divisional commissioner said he has had a review meeting of the traffic system with the district magistrate, senior superintendent of police and district transport officer and involved the representatives of autorickshaw associations and motor federation union for better management.
"Licences and permits will be checked and failing to show the proper documents will lead to fines, said the DTO.
Sunil Kumar said the anti-encroachment drive will start in a day or two.
