Patna Municipal Corporation may rope in two retired veterinary doctors and a few experts from New Delhi to tackle stray dog menace in the city.
The civic body is keeping a tab on the dogs on the city streets after a rap from the high court on May 11. Mayor Afzal Imam called a meeting in this regard on Friday at the corporation headquarters at Mauryalok Complex.
Though the Mayor invited senior officials from Bihar Veterinary College, they did not turn up. The recommendations from the meeting will be deliberated upon during the meeting of the civic body's empowered standing committee on Saturday.
"Two retired veterinary doctors agreed to provide their services," said Imam. "Several experts from Delhi have also agreed train our employees to catch and sterilise the canines."
The mayor said there were around 40,000 stray dogs in the city at present.
