Girl has been doing so since she was in Class II. When she was in Class VIII at St Karen’s, she proved her mettle by speaking in favour of co-education. Monica won the second prize in the debate.

For Monica are parents Ashok and Kiran, uncle-aunt Rakesh and Preeti. Monica said they have always stood beside her.

Years back, she won the second prize in a Hindi speech competition at Rabindra Bhavan.

Students from other schools, too, had gathered there. The event had been organised to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.
