All you cool folks let your hair down, Toni&Guy is here.
The salon chain that has been a head turner of sorts as it was voted a super brand in UK for the sixth time in 2013 and has also been voted a cool brand twice — a first-ever hairdressing company to receive both nominations — will set up a franchise outlet in Patna.
Stylists from Toni&Guy have been styling stars like Suzanne Khan, Fardeen Khan and Abhishek Bachchan for quite sometime. Their beauticians have styled models for the Kingfisher calendar and Wills Lifestyle.
Manish Mahajan, a city-based entrepreneur who owns the franchise, said the salon would be opened sometime between August 15 and 20. It would come up on the second floor of Fazal Imam Complex next to Patna Central Mall on Fraser Road.
Toni Mascolo and brother Guy co-founded the first Toni&Guy salon in 1963 in Clapham, London, joined later by their two brothers Bruno and Anthony. By the late-1990s, the company had grown from a single salon to over 100 in 20 countries worldwide. UK-based Toni&Guy salons are a renowned name in the beauty industry.
It has over 420 salons in 42 countries worldwide, employing over 5,000 people in UK and a further 2,000 employees across the world. It also manufactures products for hair care such as shampoos, styling products and hair irons. It has its own UK magazine and in-salon television station Toni&Guy TV.
“The salon which would be inaugurated in Patna is spread over 5,000sqft. It will have 15 work stations, including cutting stations, three spa sections, one jacuzzi, one pedicure and manicure stations, one VIP room attached with the spa exclusively for women, one bridal station and one nail-and-bar station,” Mahajan said.
Since it’s a Toni&Guy outlet, people can expect international-level services at the salon.
“The latest hair cuts and beauty services would be available with us. Our team of 30 experts have rich experience. The most senior person in our team is Brenda Singh, a recognised make-up artist and hair stylist who has worked in Bollywood for many years. He would be the manager. We also have Sahib Mongia who has worked with Hollywood celebrities. Santi Ho, who has worked with Kingfisher calendar and Wills Lifestyle, is also in the team,” he added.
The salon chain has outlets in Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Mahajan said it was not easy for him to bring the Toni&Guy franchise to Patna.
“When I first approached the officials of Toni&Guy in February, they refused my offer saying that Patna was not the city they would want to launch another outlet. But I again went to meet them in April with all the project details. I tried hard to convince the officials and showed them the kind of response the business would fetch in Patna. Only then, they gave a go-ahead. I have stayed in London for three years. I know how much it hurts to spend £20 on a haircut but you won’t repent it getting it done at Toni&Guy. They are a big name in UK and I always wanted to bring it to my city,” said Mahajan.
At the Delhi outlet of Toni&Guy, one has to shell out Rs 1,500 for hair cut, blow dry and shampoo but in Patna, it would cost Rs 750.
