Patna, Feb. 18: Have you ever dressed up like a fish and attended a festival? Probably not, but the people of South Korea sure have.

Prarambhika organised its annual event “Sauhardrika” on its premises today, where students of classes I to VIII put up stalls of different countries, guided by their teachers.

Stalls of China, Sri Lanka, Israel, South Korea, Nepal, Russia, Japan and Thailand were put up at the event. The students were not only armed with research about the countries, they also wore their traditional dress.

The South Korea team comprised teachers, Shashi, Veena and Sarita, Class VIII students Divyangana Shree and Naman and Class VII students Astha and Vidyangana Shree.

While Divyangana spoke about Jagalchi Market, the country’s largest seafood hub, Naman touched upon the staple food of the people there — rice and the vegetable dish, kimchi. Divyangana said: “An annual fish festival is organised at the Jagalchi Market where everybody dresses up like fish.” The teachers touched upon the annual Lotus Lantern Festival that celebrates Gautama Buddha’s birthday.

Smita Chowdhary, the school’s vice-principal, said: “The students went through every aspect of the countries like history, geography, language and art and culture to put up the stalls.” Sumit Prakash, the school’s director, and principal Ranjana Chowdhary were also present to encourage the students.

Among the other stalls, while the Nepal stall highlighted the famous Pashupatinath Temple, the Israel stall touched upon the country’s forests, drip irrigation and others.
