Patna: A 21-year-old medical student and son of a doctor- couple was killed in a road accident at Belgaum in Karnataka on Sunday morning.
The victim, Jayant Roy, was an MBBS student at KLE University's Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belagavi. Jayant was the eldest son of city-based doctor-couple Himanshu Roy and Sarika Roy. His grandmother Shanti Roy is also an eminent gynaecologist in Patna.
Hirebagewadi police station police officer S.C. Patil said from Belagavi: "The accident occurred on Sunday morning on the service road of National Highway 4. Three Jawaharlal Nehru Medical students, including a girl, were in a car when it lost control and hit a divider. The students had gone to a pub.It is a drink-driving case."
The officer said all three students were from Patna and the third student, Anshuman, is critical. Sujas Roy, a relative of Jayant's family, said: "We came to know about the incident on Sunday morning."
