Officers of the economic offences unit detained four persons and seized silver ornaments weighing 89kg from the premises of Patna Junction on Tuesday.

The consignment, valued at Rs 45 lakh, was brought to Patna from Agra for delivery to four jewellery shop owners in the Patna City area. The EOU officers caught the four soon after they alighted from Garib Rath Express.

An EOU officer said: “Silver ornaments are often brought to Patna without paying commercial taxes. The officials of the commercial taxes department are co-operating with the team in the probe.”
