Patna: BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha kept the heat on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, questioning the nature of his "advisors" in tweets throughout the day.

In a veiled jibe at Modi's statement on Bhagat Singh during campaigning for the Karnataka Assembly elections, he wrote: "I really wonder what kind of advisors you have. It really speaks volumes of people around you Sir. Probably they are confused, lack credentials, lack knowledge, are masters in spreading falsehood & still after all this have the audacity to advise the highest democratic chair..."

He went on to cite examples of Modi's goof-ups during campaigning in the southern state.

"The PM said Nehru humiliated Gen Cariappa, the hero of Indo-China war in 1962. Fact is Gen Cariappa retired in 1953, 9 years before Indo-China war. He was conferred Field Marshall on 14 January 1986 by then PM Shri. Rajiv Gandhi, a great leader of CONGRESS Sir....," he tweeted. "You said that Gen Thimayya was humiliated as Army Chief in 1948 by then Defense Minister Krishna Menon but actually his tenure was from 1957-1961. In 1948 Defense Minister was Baldev Singh. Sir, is your advisors' knowledge of history is so atrocious? Kindly enlighten!"

Sinha, the Patna Sahib MP, also hit back at Modi for his statements at Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, saying he (Rahul) would be PM if his party got the numbers in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

"He is popular with the general public & very much liked by them. Anybody can dream & dreams would only come true if you dream. As said earlier, to become the PM one needs no qualification or special wisdom..," he jabbed, while praising Rahul Gandhi in another tweet.

"By the way, the president of the oldest party has really matured in last few years & has been raising some pertinent question which we are refusing to answer or even entertain. The Neeravhe Lalit/ the Mallyashe Bankhe Raffael deal & so..," he wrote.

Local BJP leaders, however, refused to join issue with Sinha. "The Patna Sahib MP wants the party to expel him so he can project himself as a martyr," one of the BJP leaders fumed. "The party refuses to oblige him. He can contest the next Lok Sabha seat on a Congress or RJD ticket or whichever party he prefers."

The senior leader said though Sinha claims he has been with the BJP since the party only had two MPs in the Lok Sabha, he has never missed a chance to embarrass the party. "The party has made him Rajya Sabha MP twice, given seat from one of its safest constituencies twice. Made him a Union minister. What else does he want?"
