Patna, Oct. 14: The best Diwali or Chhath gift for your family this year could be a sleek hi-tech television. Better still, it could come with a free DTH connection.
Most companies and outlets are offering incentives to lure customers. Citizens, however, are not pleased with many of the offers though.
Buying a TV from a well-known brand could also get you photograph frames, radios, clocks. Money-back schemes accompany refrigerators and washing machines. Microwave or air-conditioners come with surprise gifts.
Residents, however, claim that the incentives are not attractive enough. Homemaker Sunita Sinha, who had come to a shop on Frazer Road, said: “I wanted to buy a few electronic goods. But the loans and gifts are not very attractive.”
Owners of outlets, however, are optimistic that offers would attract customers.
“October began with Durga Puja and will end with Chhath, both of which are big festivals in the state. In between there is Diwali, another major event in the festive calendar. People usually tend to buy a lot of stuff during festivals and electronic goods are on the top of the list. As a result, electronics companies are offering incentives to attract more customers,” said a shopowner.
Outlet owners also claimed that the offers had a positive effect on the sales figures. “We have recorded a 27 per cent growth from last year. Twelve more days are left for Dhanteras — the auspicious day for buying. We are hoping that sales will pick up and we will get more than 40 per cent sales than last year,” said Anuj Kumar Singh, the general manager of electronics shop Aditya Vision.
His shop is offering a dinner set or watches to customers. However, Ankur Tiwari, a customer at the shop, told The Telegraph that he had not been offered any gift to buy a camera.
“I checked the Internet and found out that the Sony camera I want to buy is priced Rs 25,000. But the outlet is not offering me any gift.”
He added: “Other electronic items, however, have some gift accompanying them.”
