Patna, Jan. 19: Residents of Kurtha in Rohtas have accused a woman of running a sex racket in connivance with a police officer.
At least 50 people visited the weekly janata durbar of the Rohtas district magistrate and superintendent of police (SP) yesterday in protest against the alleged sex rackets running out of the house of the woman.
Rohtas is around 170km southwest from here.
The residents handed a petition to Rohtas SP Manu Maharaj, alleging that the woman was hand-in-glove with a station house officer (SHO). They demanded action against the SHO concerned.
“On January 14, one of us spotted six girls coming out of the house of the woman. We told the SHO of Shivsagar police station about the involvement of the girls in sex rackets,” said Dr Hardeo Prasad, a Kurtha resident.
“An assistant sub-inspector of police was also assigned by the SHO to probe into the allegations the following day. But once he left, criminals hired by the woman attacked our houses and beat us up,” he added.
