A delegation of journalists met director-general of police P.K. Thakur on Thursday, demanding action against security personnel who allegedly manhandled reporters after the cabinet meeting at the old secretariat on Wednesday. The delegation submitted a two-page memorandum expressing concern over threats for journalists while covering political events.

A scuffle had broken out on Wednesday when journalists pressed deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav for his reaction to calls for his resignation over the CBI FIR in the land-for-hotels case. Tejashwi on Wednesday released a statement - along with a video as proof - denying that he had unleashed his security staff on journalists.

He said the media personnel were jostling with each other and he had waited "patiently" for 5-7 minutes for them to sort themselves out.

"There were moments when around ten mikes were about to hit my nose, I saved myself & duty personals were protecting it while being on duty," Tejashwi wrote. He said a cameraman had hit his brother, Tej Pratap Yadav, on the head with a camera when the health minister was getting into his car and "it wasn't reported at all, rather no need to as it happens out of rush". Many security guards, Tejashwi said, suffered minor bruises.

On Thursday, too, Tejashwi tweeted the video with a sarcastic caption: "See, how Lalu's son spreading Gundagardi in Bihar.
