The decision of DAV, BSEB, to cancel the admission of some Class XI students for submitting fake marksheets led to a clash on the campus of the institution on Monday.

The principal, Ramanuj Prasad, said some parents and students, whose admission had been cancelled, came to meet him around 12.30pm. As he was explaining why their admissions had been cancelled, another group of students arrived, shouting slogans.

“Without any warning, they started to assault the teachers, employees and me,” said Prasad, saying some of them even had firearms.

The school authorities informed the police and the belligerent students and parents retreated, when the cops arrived.

Prasad said: “We found that 25 students had submitted fake marksheets. Most of them were from a reputable school and they had tampered with the marksheets. On July 31, I circulated a notice informing their guardians that the admission of their wards had been cancelled.” The regional and Delhi offices of DAV were also informed.

Parents, however, said the school employees had assaulted them when they went to meet the principal.

“When we arrived to meet the principal, we were not allowed to see him. After much persuasion, a few of us reached the principal’s chamber. An altercation ensued. Some of the employees attacked us with iron rods,” said a parent.

Shastri Nagar police station in-charge Vidya Sagar said both the parents and school authorities had lodged complaints.
