The Centre for Council of Indigenous Medicine (CCIM), New Delhi, has ordered Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, to conduct a probe into unusually high number of students taking the Unani medicine final examination and submit a report within a month.
The CCIM received a complaint recently that a large number of students had appeared in the exam in April. Suspecting the varsity’s examination department employees of registering students for the two-year diploma course a few months before the examination, it ordered a probe.
Inspector of colleges (science faculty) Rajendra Mahto told The Telegraph that the CCIM had sent a letter to the university, directing to constitute a team of officers to probe into violation of prescribed rules of taking admission in colleges.
Several Unani medicine colleges in Muzaffarpur, Patna, Siwan, Darbhanga, Gaya and Buxar are affiliated to the university. CCIM has sought a detailed probe report within a month. CCIM chairman R. Prasad has requested vice-chancellor Bimal Kumar and registrar A.P. Mishra to look into the alleged anomalies.
Sources said a number of students were enrolled and registered barely a few months before they appeared in the final examination of the 2009-2011 session.
