The special investigation team probing the Intermediate results scam raided the Patna residence of Arun Kumar, the former vice-chancellor of the Magadh University, on Wednesday.

Police also took in remand former Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh and his wife Usha Sinha for three days.

The couple were arrested from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday.

The team raided Arun's residence in Nehru Nagar for Vivek Kumar, his son and Lalkeshwar's son-in-law.

Patna senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaaj said Vivek managed the tenders the BSEB awarded to the printing presses for printing examination-related materials such as admit cards, mark sheets and answer sheets.

"The police went to catch Vivek who was successful in escaping," Maharaaj said. "A lot of documents have been recovered from his residence which will be checked. Vivek used to manage the tenders that were sent to the printing press by the BSEB. He chose the press in association with Lalkeshwar and Usha Sinha."

The school board also suspended the recognition to four Vaishali colleges.

BSEB chairman Anand Kishor said the action was taken after it was found that these institutions took money from students with the promise of high marks, like Vishun Roy College.

A five-member team has been formed to investigate the matter. It will submit a report upon which further action will be initiated.
