
Patna: Cricketer Saurabh Tiwary inaugurated a cricket academy at Litera Valley School Campus in Bhagwat Nagar. The academy is a joint initiative of the school and Revolution Sports.
The cricket academy would be a one-of-its-kind as it would have former Ranji trophy players and those who have played in under-19 cricket matches as coaches apart from having Tiwary as mentor.
Litera Valley School director Amit Prakash, Revolution Sports director Ranjeet Verma, Revolution Sports co-director Gurjeet Singh Soni (a former Ranji trophy player himself) and mentor coach of the academy, Kajal Das, were among those present during the academy's inauguration.
Speaking on the occasion, co-director of Revolution Sports, Gurjeet Singh Soni, said his company was running professional cricket academies in Ranchi and other cities to groom budding cricketers and bowlers. "This cricket academy would provide international level turf wicket besides providing equipment like bowling machine and other equipment to groom players," Gurjeet said.
"Besides, we have a panel of specialised coaches. For example, we have a coach for left-hand spinner, right-hand fast bowler and other categories so that we can provide specific training to the budding players. While Kajal Das, who had played in the Ranji trophy and has also been part of the selection of under 19 cricket team in 2008, would be our mentor coach, other coaches would be Naushad Akhtar from Bengal, Dilip Yadav from Jharkhand, Hasnain Akhtar from Jharkhand among others. Kajal would be available here in the academy for at least 4-5 days in one-and-a-half-months.
Saurabh Tiwary would be mentor of the academy who would visit the academy whenever he would be free from professional commitments."
He said training would be provided through leather, tennis and other varieties of ball in the academy. Talking about admission and other fees of the academy, Ranjeet Verma said: "We are charging Rs 6,000 at the time of admission and Rs 2,000 per month thereafter."
Litera Valley School director Amit Prakash said the academy would keep itself updated with the latest instruments even in future. Earlier, while speaking on the occasion, Saurabh shared tips on how to become a successful cricketer. "Try to be a good human being, you will ultimately get success in whatever profession you choose, even in cricket," Tiwary said.
