Patna, Aug. 19: Ram Gopal Varma’s new release Not A Love Story and Sanjay Dutt-starrer Chatur Singh Two Star today failed to generate any interest in the audience as well as the theatre owners.

The Cinepolis multiplex is running two shows of Dutt’s film.

Both Mona and Regent decided not to screen Chatur Singh Two Star. Cinepolis is playing two shows of the film.

Not A Love Story, based on the Neeraj Grover murder case, got one show in Mona and two show in Cinepolis. The movie, however, failed to rise to the expectations of the viewers.

Very few people turned up to watch the film today and those who did said they wasted their money. Many people felt that after making award-winning films like Satya, Sarkar and Company, Ram Gopal Varma has lost his knack for making films.

“I thought the new film Not A Love Story would be some kind of a murder mystery, where there would be a lot of thrill but there’s nothing as such. I have never heard about actors like Mahie Gill (who plays the role of Anusha Chawla in the film) and Ajay Gehi (who is playing the role of Ashish). Deepak Dobriyal as Robin is good but overall, it’s not a well-made movie. I think I have wasted my money. There is nothing new in the film. If Ramu continues to churn out more of such films, no established actor would work with him,” said Suneet Kumar at Mona theatre.

Another viewer at the theatre said: “I don’t know why Ramu is obsessed with directing films based on real incidents and even if he does, he should cast known actors to do justice to the film and characters. In this film, the mystery looks unreal. The rapid shifting of the scenes left us confused. I bought ticket for Rs 160 and the movie was not worth it at all.”

Chatur Singh Two Star received a similar response. The viewers coming out after watching the film were disappointed and said that it’s humour is poor and ridiculous. “After films like Munnabhai MBBS, All the Best and Dhamaal, this film is nowhere near in terms of comedy. The character played by Sanjay Dutt is not up to the mark. The director has perhaps tried to emulate the Pink Panther series,” said Vivek Kumar, a student of AN College.

Another viewer complained about the unnecessary number of characters. “I don’t think there was any sense in having so many actors like Anupam Kher, Murli Sharma, Suresh Menon and Rati Agnihotri. The worst performance is by Ameesha Patel. The jokes cracked by these characters are irritating. It’s not at all a comedy action film,” said Rishi Raj, a resident of Patliputra.
