Rs 17 lakh loot at fuel station, man shot

Motihari/Patna, Dec. 27: Six criminals shot at a manager of a petrol pump based in Raxaul, 210km north of Patna, and decamped with Rs 17.3 lakh cash today.

The manager was on his way to the State Bank of India to deposit the money.

The incident occurred at 12 noon at Ramgarhwa police station area.

One of the criminals also hurled a bomb during the day light robbery, which injured him and was later arrested.

Deputy superintendent of police, Raxaul, Rajiv Ranjan said Jagdish Mishra, the manager of Ramnath Prasad & Sons petrol pump was on his way with the money in a bag.

He was on his way to the Ramgarhwa branch of the State Bank of India, located at a distance of just 500 metres from the petrol pump.

“As he was walking, six people intercepted him on a motorbike. One of them fired at him, which hit Mishra on his hand. They then snatched the bag containing the money from him after which one of them hurled a bomb in order to create a commotion. During this, one of them, who had thrown the bomb got injured and couldn’t escape. Others managed to flee with the bag,” the officer said.

Manager of Ramnath Prasad & Sons, Mishra, was later rushed to the hospital for treatment.

With the police not divulging the details of the man arrested, sources said some papers have been recovered from his pocket which states that he is a resident of a village in Kushinagar area of Uttar Pradesh. Police said they have initiated an intensive raid in and around the area to arrest the criminals.
