Patna, July 9: The state administration today clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC and initiated stern action against the cops deployed at Rohtas police station in the wake of Tuesday’s firing, which left two persons dead.
Patna divisional commissioner N. Vijaya Laxmi and inspector-general of police (Patna zone) Kundan Krishnan told reporters in Rohtas that all police personnel deployed at Rohtas police station, including the station house officer Mithilesh Kumar Jaisawal, have been removed.
The cops have been asked to report to the policelines. The Rohtas superintendent of police Chandan Kumar Kushwaha has been asked to relieve all the police personnel for the inept handling of the situation that led to the police firing, the two senior officers said.
They said the decision of overhauling the police set up at the Rohtas police station in Rohtas district was taken in view of the tension prevailing in the block headquarters town. “The new set up will be put in place within 24 hours,” the officers said, adding that the prohibitory orders have also been imposed as precautionary measures.
Under Section 144, congregation of five or more than five persons at a particular place is banned.The BJP has given a call for bandh on Thursday to protest the police firing.
