Patna, April 23: The RJD today issued a showcause notice to its Madhepura MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav for anti-party activities.
Issuing the notice, RJD national general secretary Ramdev Bhandari asked him why the party should not take disciplinary action against Pappu. He had been given 15 days to send his reply to the party.
On several occasions, Pappu has gone against the party line and had raised question on the leadership. For the first time, the RJD took a strong exception to his activities when without taking the consent of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, he started organising his public meeting under the banner of Yuva Shakti formed by Pappu himself.
After that, the party has asked all its workers and supporters not to take part in his rallies or associate themselves with Yuva Shakti and asked Pappu not to use Lalu's picture in his rallies. Despite that, Pappu kept on using the posters with Lalu's pictures. Even the showcause notice mentioned this point also. However, the five-term parliamentarian denied getting any showcause notice from the party. Pappu told The Telegraph from Saharsa: "I have not received any showcause notice and I will continue doing my work. I only think about the society and my state. I think about humanity only. My fight is against corrupt politician, corrupt bureaucrats and the corrupt system. I have not done anything wrong and I respect my leader Lalu ji and will keep on doing so."
He added: "So far as any showcause notice is concerned, once I get it, I would send my reply in a proper way."
What made Lalu more furious and agitated was Pappu's continuous attack on the RJD chief's sons and daughter on the issue of successor. Though Lalu clearly told him during the national executive meeting held on April 5 that only his sons could become his successor, Pappu continued to issue comment on the matter of successor.
While addressing a rally two days after the April 5 meeting, Pappu said for the property sons can become successor but in the politics it was the people who decide the successor.
Yesterday, Pappu raised his voice in support of former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi again and visited 1 Aney Marg to meet him after that he announced that any merger of Janata parivar would remain incomplete without taking Manjhi in its fold.
