Students should ensure that they get enough time to revise their syllabus and teachers should adopt new training methodologies for IIT-JEE candidates from Patna.

This is the perfect recipe to clinch good ranks in IIT-JEE according to J. Roy, the director of Patna-based IIT-JEE coaching institute Smriti.

He said: “It has been found that students in the state capital studying in various coaching institutes try to complete their entire syllabus for JEE, which leaves them with little time to revise their course.”

The director added that most of the teachers in Patna who coach students for the engineering entrance examination still adopt traditional teaching methodologies. Roy said they should rather introduce new methodologies to help their students. They should scrutinise the new pattern and questions asked in IIT examinations in recent times and prepare their students according to the new pattern, added Roy.

On Wednesday, Smriti felicitated 15 of its students, who cracked IIT-JEE 2012, with laptops and mobiles. Twenty-one students from Smriti have cracked this year’s IIT-JEE. Six students did not turn up at the ceremony.

Roy said the institute would start a new batch from July to train students from economically weaker sections of society for free. Special faculty would guide 30 students, selected through an examination, for eight months.
