Patna, July 1: As school passouts take admission in various colleges under Patna University (PU), their seniors are forced to buy time to bid farewell to the varsity. For, the postgraduate results of many subjects in the university are yet to be published.

Those who wish to pursue a PhD or take competitive examinations that require a postgraduate degree are stuck in a limbo because of the delay.

According to the academic calendar, the postgraduate second-year results should have been published by May 25. The first-year postgraduate results are also pending.

The date for filling and submitting forms for the new postgraduate session is over.

Rakesh Kumar, a student leader of PU, said: “Students have to face a number a problems because of the delay in the publication of results. Many students had planned to pursue courses in other universities outside the state. However, the date for submitting applications for that is over.”

Tammana Khan, another student, said: “It is necessary to submit postgraduate results for the pre-PGT test for PhD. However, as the results have not been published, the students are confused.”

When The Telegraph contacted PU examination controller D.N. Sharma, he claimed that the results of most of the subjects had been declared.

Students differed. They claimed results of only a handful of subjects were published. The rest were pending.

They said many of them go to the university campus every day to inquire about the results.

The postgraduate students have appealed to the university administration a number of times to publish the results as soon as possible. They have also brought their plight to the notice of Governor Devanand Konwar, who is the chancellor of the university, chief minister Nitish Kumar and state human resource development minister P.K. Shahi.

However, all appeals have been in vain.

Rakesh said: “As Patna University is one of the oldest universities in the state, its academic calendar — that includes the date of publication of results — was also published in Bihar Gazette. But it seems Bihar Gazette is not important enough for the PU administration.”

PU vice-chancellor Sudipto Adhikari said: “The results of some humanities subject, that includes English, Bengali, Persian and Urdu, have been published. The results of other subjects, including geography, history and the science subjects, would be published in a day or two.”
