Muzaffarpur, May 21: The Re-totalling Committee of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University has found many examiners guilty of checking pre-PhD examination, 2011, answer sheets in a “whimsical way”.
Altogether 2,442 post-graduate students appeared for the examination conducted by the university in July 2011. However, when the university announced the results in March 2012, it was found that about 1,800 students had failed to qualify.
The students who had failed to clear the selection test alleged that there were “gross irregularities” in checking of their papers. Following this, the committee was formed to probe into the “irregularities”.
“The committee found that the examiners had checked the copies haphazardly,” Padmasha Jha, the pro-vice-chancellor of the university, said. “We will bring the matter to the notice of the examination board, which will take the final decision,” added Jhar, who also headed the committee.
