Patna, June 3: Choice of right engineering subjects still remains a puzzle for aspiring techies. To guide the aspirants to the right college and course, 24 students of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, will organise a workshop at the Shrikrishna Science Centre on Saturday.
The 24 IITians, most of whom have roots in Bihar, will conduct a counselling programme for the engineering aspirants about the various branches of engineering through their organisation, IITians For Youth, in collaboration with Mentor Classes Patna.
The IITians’ one-year-old organisation aims to provide proper guidance to aspirants in choosing the right college and discipline along with informing them about the opportunities available in the different fields.
Praveen Kaushal, an IITian, said: “Students who clear IIT-JEE or any other engineering examinations are confused over choosing the right course. Ignorance or lack of knowledge lend a preconceived notion that studying engineering only means course like computer science, mechanical engineering and others. But many engineering courses are emerging as lucrative options. In a state like Bihar, agriculture engineering can be very useful.”
