Patna, Sept. 10: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address a party meeting at Ram Nagar in north Bihar's West Champaran district on September 19 to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.

BPCC president Ashok Chouhdary today confirmed Rahul's visit.

Though Rahul's visit is part of the Congress's plan to celebrate Babasaheb's anniversary, the Gandhi scion would address the first public meeting ahead of the Assembly polls in Champaran region - also known as the karmabhoomi of Mahatma Gandhi.

Rahul had begun Ambedkar's anniversary celebration from Mhow, Ambedkar's birthplace in Madhya Pradesh.

What has given a colour of campaign for the JDU-RJD-Congress, which are fighting in grand alliance against the BJP-led NDA in the state, is that the grand old party has invited representatives from all its alliance partners, the JDU and the RJD.

Sources said the cadres of the Congress, which has been contesting in 243 seats in the state, were looking at Rahul to begin the party's campaign at the Ram Nagar meeting.

The presence of the big grand alliance leaders such as chief minister Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad is virtually ruled out at the meeting as the Congress leadership specifically invited only "representatives" from the two parties.
