Chief secretary Ashok Kumar Sinha has directed officials to keep tabs on burnt transformers and read out a slew of steps to boost revenue collection of the power sector.
“Number of burnt transformers should not exceed 200 in a month,” he said. At a recent review meeting through video-conferencing, Sinha asked officials to follow the directives.
The meet was attended by Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Ltd chairperson Sandeep Poundrik, officials of the two distribution companies, principal secretaries in-charge of districts and district magistrates.
Cases of burnt transformers have reduced significantly, he said. Sources said around 750 transformers used to get burnt every month till April this year.
However, the number has dropped to around 350 by end-July.
Sinha said: “Distribution firms should use technology in metering, bill reading, distribution and collection to improve revenue.”
