The high court on Wednesday asked the firm building AIIMS-Patna to submit within a week the schedule according to which it intends to complete the construction work.

During a hearing, the division bench of Justice Prakash Chandra Verma and Justice Aditya Kumar Trivedi, observed that the firm — BL Kashyap & Sons Ltd — should carry out round-the-clock work to complete the construction of Jai Prakash Narayan All India Institute of Medical Sciences (JPNAIIMS) hospital at Phulwarisharif.

The bench further observed that it would be conducive (in terms of weather) to the firm to carry out the work in the next two-three months.

Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pal, who was present in the courtroom, submitted an affidavit stating that the civic body had complied with the court’s order to remove garbage from the premises of Guru Govind Singh Hospital, the 450-bed facility that has been attached to the JPNAIIMS.

“According to the direction of the high court, the entire garbage has been removed from Guru Govind Singh Hospital and its surrounding areas in Patna City,” the affidavit filed by the PMC commissioner said.

The state government’s counsel, Shashi Bhushan Kumar, submitted before the court that the health department would release Rs 1.8 crore within a week for constructing the boundary wall of the Guru Govind Singh Hospital. It would spread over 64 acres.

The counsel also informed the court that the district magistrate had initiated steps to remove encroachment from the hospital premises on September 24.

The court directed the JPNAIIMS director and Guru Govind Singh Hospital’s superintendent to hold a meeting to chalk out modalities so that the AIIMS doctors could start treatment at the Patna City hospital soon.
