The Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University has found out irregularities during the practical examination of Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery conducted in August 2014.
This came to light when a university team visited Muzaffarpur on Tuesday to probe into the alleged irregularities.
Not only the students were awarded marks without even writing a word, the answer copies were also tampered with. The practical examination of Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery was conducted at Magadha Homeopathic College, Nalanda, in August 2014. The results were declared in November 2014.
Ajay Kumar Srivastava, the university proctor, said: "A student, Sumit Kumar, had applied for re-totalling of marks of his practical papers. Following his request, when the university officials verified the practical copies, they found out that many papers, including Kumar's, were blank. Despite that, the examiner inserted marks in the box on the front page of the answer copy."
The university seized 55 such copies of practical papers immediately, he added.
The matter has been brought to the notice of the vice-chancellor, Pandit Phalende, who ordered a three-member probe team to examine the alleged fraud. Proctor Shrivastava has been named the chairman of the probe team.
Sources said the probe team members, who visited Muzaffarpur on Tuesday to collect the answer copies of the theory papers of the final examination 2014, were surprised to see a large number of copies went missing from the examination department.
