Patna Science College has invited seven former principals of the institution for felicitation on November 15, its 88th foundation day.

Ravindra Kumar, the co-ordinator of the foundation day function, said: 'Principals who have served the college from 1990 have been invited. They will be felicitated on the occasion, as it is under their guidance that the college maintained its reputation even in adversities.'

Education minister Brishen Patel has been invited to be the chief guest.

The principals to be felicitated are K.K. Jha (principal from March 1990-November 2000), J. Thakur, S.N. Guha (former Aryabhatta Knowledge University vice-chancellor), Dipak Sharma, UNL Mathur, Kashinath and Arun Kumar Sinha.

Alumni former chief secretary A.K. Sinha and Atomic Energy Commission chairman Ratan Kumar Sinha would also be felicitated.

Patna Science College was established in 1927 as the science department of Patna University. Over the years, it has produced excellent students in spite of adversities such as inadequate teachers.

Apart from felicitation of former principals and students, the institute will like other years also honour its different toppers.

Students from undergraduate physics, chemistry, botany, zoology, geology, mathematics departments, and vocational and self-financing courses such as biotechnology, and environment science would be honoured with gold medals and certificates.

Second-year geology student Anuj Kumar said: 'Such felicitation of students is an encouragement.'
