Patna: Union minister of social justice and empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot on Sunday inaugurated the new building of Composite Regional Centre near the National Seeds Corporation office at Sheikhpura on Sunday.
The Composite Regional Centre, which runs under the Union ministry of social justice and empowerment, was running from a rented accommodation at Gandhi Maidan and it was not full-fledged owing to lack of space.
"The Centre caters to the needs of disabled people. With the shifting of the centre to its own building, it can now work more holistically to provide health, training and rehabilitation facilities for differently abled people," said Gehlot in his inaugural speech.
The centre will facilitate tests on pregnant women, which can reveal whether the baby in their womb is suffering from any kind of disability or not. The centre also provides testing facility to detect disability in newborns and rehabilitation facility for the differently abled apart from running courses such as diploma in hearing and visual impairment, mental retardation among others.
