Security personnel assist devotees at Mahendru Ghat on Tuesday morning. People turned up in large numbers for the doosri-arghya, forgetting the tragedy that struck barely 12 hours ago. Many ended their fast on the fourth and the final day of the festival by offering the arghya to the Sun God early in the morning. Thousands of devotees turned up at different ghats of Patna, including Gandhi Ghat and Mahendru Ghat. Friends and family members accompanied those observing Chhath. The administration appeared cautious after Monday’s incident and made special arrangements at the ghats to prevent any untoward incident. People were asked to walk in queues and securitymen kept constant tabs on the movement of those who had gathered at the ghats. The festival ended peacefully and no untoward incident was reported.
