The state election department would launch an exercise for inclusion of names in the electoral rolls.
The department has instructed the booth-level officers (BLOs) to remain present at the respective polling stations during the month-long exercise, which would start from Saturday.
State chief electoral officer Ajay B. Naik said: “Those who have not been able to get their names included in the electoral rolls can avail the opportunity. All they need to do is provide the relevant documents to the BLOs. They can also apply online.”
Those who would attain the age of 18 on January 1, 2015, can also apply.
The election department has asked the district magistrates concerned to organise special camps in their districts to receive complaints from voters on November 9 and November 23.
Naik said the election department has signed a memorandum of understanding to install kiosks in the districts to provide election photo identity cards. The exercise is likely to start within a month.
The chief electoral officer said since the last Lok Sabha polls, the state has witnessed an increase of around 14 lakh voters. Before the Lok Sabha polls in the state, the department had received 1.5 crore complaints from voters. Of which around 1.2 crore complaints have already been disposed of.
Around 3,000 additional polling stations have been identified after consultations with the representatives of different political parties.
Additional chief electoral officer R. Lakshmanan said the final list of voters would be published on January 15.
