Patna, July 6: The Bihar police are planning a competition for school students to help nurture their talent and develop a healthy perception about the force.
By the end of this year, five students from north Bihar’s Tirhut division could find their way to a “hot seat” similar to Kaun Banega Crorepati. While the winner of the Talent Search Competition would head home with a reward of Rs 2.5 lakh, the others would be given Rs 50,000 each.
The fund for the prize money would be raised with the support of charitable organisations. The initiative, a first-of-its-kind, is the brainchild of inspector-general of police (Tirhut zone) Gupteshwar Pandey. The innovative plan is an aim to move close to the people and project a new image of the police force.
Pandey, a 1987 batch IPS officer, said 25,000 school students from 10 police districts under the Tirhut zone would appear in the first round of the competition. Around 1,000 students would then advance to a second round of written examination of which 200 would be selected for the third round.
To be one of the five on the “hot seat” — an interactive quiz contest — the 200 students would need to go through another round of examination. The competition is scheduled to start from August.
