Patna, Aug. 25: Punjab National Bank (PNB) today announced that it would open 41 branches and 100-plus ATMs in the state.
The initiative has been taken as part of the state government’s financial inclusion programme under which every family would be provided with banking facilities.
“We would open 41 branches and more than 100 ATMs in Bihar during the 2012-13 fiscal. Under the financial inclusion programme, we have to provide banking facilities by opening branches and ultra-small branches in villages with a population of more than 2,000,” said PNB’s executive director S.R. Bansal.
At present, PNB provides services in the state through 485 branches and 409 ATMs, he said, adding that 420 of these branches are located in rural and semi-urban areas. Bansal also inaugurated an ATM in Kadamkuan.
