Zoological Survey of India on Monday organised a workshop on wildlife museum specimens of Gangetic plains.

Senior scientist Gopal Sharma spoke on the significance of animals in balancing the eco system. A slide show was organised for students from different schools who attended the workshop as well as Dolphin: Rescue and Rehabilitation made by the environment and forests department. The film depicts translocation of two dolphins in Katihar district.

Sharma took the initiative to shift the dolphins with the help of local fishermen. The entire operation was completed within four hours.

Zoo centre

Chief minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated a zoo informatics centre at the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, popularly known as Patna zoo, on Monday.

Environment and forests minister Tej Pratap and principal secretary Vivek Kumar Singh attended the event. "The centre will create awareness about wildlife among the people," said zoo director Nand Kishore. He added that the zoo also plans to operate toy trains on the campus.
