Around 800 people participated in a mini marathon, Run for Unity, organised by the Danapur Cantonment on Sunday.

Union minister Ram Kripal Yadav flagged off the marathon in Danapur. Major-general Sanjeev Jaitley was the chief guest. Vineet Kumar, the chief executive officer of Danapur Cantonment, said: "There were 110 army personnel who took part in the event along with the residents. The event was organised on the directive of the defence ministry. People were so enthusiastic about the event that we had to organise the run twice."

Vasan Eye Care Hospital volunteered in the event by providing caps, t-shirts and drinking water.

Alumni meet

The foundation day-cum-alumni meet of Patna Medical College will be held on the college premises on February 24 and 25.

Around 1,000 people, including alumni and former teachers of the college, are expected to participate in the event. Basant Singh, president of PMC Alumni Association, said: "We have also invited chief minister Nitish Kumar to be present at the event. We will felicitate the toppers of various subjects and the college topper at the event."
