Media-shy CM

• It's been more than four months since chief minister Nitish Kumar interacted with the media. He used to hold his Lok Samvad every Monday in which he used to interact directly with reporters. But the last time he held a Lok Samvad was on February 12. "He is interacting with the media the same way Rabri Devi used to do when she was chief minister - through government press notes," remarked an RJD leader. Quite a few journalists had attended the swearing-in of health minister Mangal Pandey as MLC on Monday in the hope that Nitish would interact with the media. However, the chief minister gave them the skip. "Well the chief minister did say in a function that he will not speak and his work will speak for him," remarked a JDU leader. However, as elections come near media persons are hopeful that the once media-friendly CM will become more "approachable".

Heat & bust

• The march to Raj Bhavan (in picture) on Saturday to protest against farmers not being compensated for their land by the Centre for the GAIL pipeline and highway projects in Bihar proved "too hot" for many Congress leaders. The protest rally started at 11am from Sadaquat Ashram and was to go to Bailey Road. But as the sun pummelled the ground, many Congress leaders began to pray the cops would detain them in a police station so that they could stay away from the heat. "I was expecting the police to arrest us at Raja Pul. But the police are never around when one needs them," mourned a leader. Many leaders hid their faces under towels. No wonder Bihar in-charge Shakti Singh Gohil thanked the state Congress leaders for marching in the heat for 5 km.

Tejas & Rahul

• The RJD netas are comparing their leader Tejashwi Yadav with Congress president Rahul Gandhi. "Rahul Gandhi goes abroad for holidays. Our leader goes to Delhi to ease off," remarked a leader of the party. However, another RJD leader disagreed. "The similarity is limited to holidays. Tejashwi is taken much more seriously by leaders than Rahul Gandhi," the RJD man stressed, recalling that Tejashwi had already registered victories in elections even though he has been in politics for a much shorter time than Rahul.

Eligible bachelors

• After the marriage of Tej Pratap Yadav, political circles are talking about two more eligible bachelors: Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and Chirag Paswan (in picture) . Tejashwi recently joked that he will get married only after his "elder brother" Chirag gets married. Chirag has declared that the date, time and the girl (with whom he will marry) will be decided by his father Ram Vilas Paswan. "It appears that both will get married only after the 2019 Lok Sabha polls," remarked a senior politician.
