Every word on record

Rural works minister Bhim Singh appears to have found a way out of controversies. He has given a camera to one of his security guards to record whatever he says not only in public places but also in his office or residence.fter facing several embarrassing situations for loose comments, Singh claimed that TV channels were deliberately putting words in his mouth by editing the CD to rake up controversies. To avoid discomfiture, he took the innovative route of recording whatever he says. A senior JD(U) leader said: “After he was snubbed for his remark on the killing of Bihari soldiers in Kashmir, Bhim has to be careful.” He added: “The BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, still keeps referring to Bhim’s statement in his election speeches.”

Mood swing

Agriculture minister Narendra Singh recently dubbed the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate a “terrorist”. When reporters approached him at the chief minister’s janata durbar a few days later to find out if he was firm on his statement against Narendra Modi, he refused to speak. “Give me four or five days. Right now, I am in a mood to talk about Bharat Ratna awarded to Sachin Tendulkar and not on Modi,” said Singh. Chief minister Nitish Kumar chipped in stating that Singh was known for his short temper right from the college days. “It’s a good thing that Singh is trying to control his temper. His short temper has put the state government in a tight position more than once. We can afford to take on Modi without him,” said another minister.

Pizza joint puzzle

A new pizza joint in a newly constructed mall on Boring Road is the talk of the town of late. A person went to the joint and had a pizza one evening. After two days, he convinced his friends to go to the same place. After reaching there, he and his friends found the lights of the joint off. He later learnt that the Patna Municipal Corporation had got the manager and the employees of the pizza joint arrested for hiring space in an illegally constructed building and the pizza shop was closed. “We are lucky. Had we been eating pizza at the time of the raid, we might have ended up in jail for eating at an illegal joint,” he said.

Sinking friend-ship

Chief minister Nitish Kumar and the RJD’s former MP, Vijay Krishna, shared the stage at a function of the railways but the two former friends-turned-foes refused to acknowledge the existence of each other. “The two did not even exchange glances,” recalled an onlooker. Nitish and Krishna were close associates right from the JP agitation days. When Nitish parted ways with Lalu, Krishna remained with the RJD chief. The latter even defeated Nitish in the Barh parliamentary seat in 2004. Recently, Krishna joined the JD(U) but again parted ways with Nitish when he and his son were charged with murder. “Krishna believes Nitish framed him,” said an RJD leader, stressing that friendship hardly lasts in politics.
