Anwar in jail, voluntarily
Former MLC Anwar Ahmad, called “Kebab Minister” by his adversaries during the RJD regime probably because he ensured the best delicacies reached the table of Lalu Prasad, is spending most of his time in Ranchi after his party boss was jailed. hmad calls himself the Hanuman of Lalu and is always seen around him. After Lalu was awarded the jail sentence, some RJD leaders pointed out that Anwar had also been practically awarded “half the jail term Lalu has been given”. “Anwar most of the time remains in Ranchi and spends time with Laluji inside the jail. He leaves the jail when the visiting hours are over and goes back to his rented house. He returns in the morning. Presuming Anwar stays inside the jail 12 hours a day, he will be practically spending 30 months in jail,” said a senior RJD leader. The inauguration of the Ganga driveway project work has caused heartburns in the BJP. “Chief minister Nitish Kumar does not believe in giving credit to his ministers. He takes all the credit himself,” said former deputy chief minister and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi. Giving credit to former road construction minister Nand Kishore Yadav, a BJP leader said the former actually took the initiative, ensured that the project was approved and funds were allocated. “The project would have died after it failed to find bidders in the public-private partnership mode. Yadav stressed that the government should execute the project on its own,” said another senior BJP leader, pointing out that the driveway would pass through the constituencies of three BJP MLAs. “None of them, however, was invited to the foundation-laying function,” he said. Most of the party-hoppers are of late claiming that they are not switching sides for election tickets. When the JD(U) leader of Maharajganj, Sachhidanand Rai, joined the BJP, he clarified that he was not a candidate for the Maharajganj Lok Sabha seat. “However, some political turncoats are eyeing Lok Sabha tickets. Mangani Lal Mandal, who joined the RJD from the JD(U), is an aspirant from Jhanjharpur and Chhedi Paswan who joined the BJP from JD(U) is a candidate from Sasaram. One should not take party-hoppers seriously when they say they are not aspiring candidates,” said a BJP leader.Raghuvansh’s claim RJD’s riddle
Senior RJD leader and former Union minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh recently claimed that the Congress had offered him the post of a cabinet minister in lieu of deserting Lalu. “I shall not leave Lalu for the sake of even the Prime Minister’s post,” he said. The senior RJD leader’s statement has caused more ripples in the RJD than any other party. “It brings to the focus again that the Congress is out to weaken us and take us for granted. Laluji had been craving for a cabinet berth ever since the UPA II came to power. But he did not receive any offer,” said a former RJD MP.
