Dogs fight, their masters shout

The Kadamkuan police station house officer and other cops faced a peculiar situation when the owners of two dogs reached there fighting and fretting. The dogs of two neighbours fought ferociously, injuring each other. Then their masters got locked in heated exchange of words. The intervention of their neighbours failed to settle the issue. he “warring” masters reached the police station asking the station house officer, Ajay Kumar, to listen to them and do the “needful”. Embarrassed, Ajay smiled at the two neighbours creating a cacophony while making the plea for their respective dogs. The police officer then got upset asking, “Is it the duty of the police to settle the fight between two dogs? You should, at least, be sensible enough to understand the issues to be brought to the notice of the busy police station officials.” Ajay later acted smartly and persuaded the two neighbours to agree to keep their dogs under leash. /B>

Lakh for poets

Here is an opportunity for Hindi poets to become a lakhpati (owner of Rs 1 lakh and above). The Bihar government has invited entries for Rajya Geet (state song), which would be recited during the Bihar Divas celebrations in March. An expert committee would scrutinise and select the song, which should not take more than three minutes in recitation and should be pleasing to the ears. The author of the selected Rajya Geet will be rewarded Rs 1 lakh. Besides the money, the award offers an opportunity for the poet to find his name in the state’s llustrious history. Thus, many poets are at work to write the song by February 4, the last date of submitting entries.

Chhathiya Devi, a middle-aged woman, had come to the janata darbar to draw chief minister Nitish Kumar’s attention. Nitish said: “I have done most of your work. What have you come for now?” The woman said: “I have come to get photographed with you.” Nitish immediately obliged by posing with her. When a reporter asked Nitish if the woman continued to come to the janata darbar to get photographed with him, he said: “She is a strong leader. Don't take her to be an ordinary woman.” The woman hails from Chamarichak village under Patna district’s Shahpur block. A government official said: “The woman will treasure her picture with the chief minister for the rest of her life and will remain his ardent supporter.”

Nitish backs Jairam

Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday attacked the Congress-led government at the Centre for the hike in petrol prices with his oft-repeated remark: “Whenever the Congress is in power, prices rise and the federal structure comes under attack.” However, he strongly supported the Union environment minister Jairam Ramesh’s order to demolish the Adarsh society building in Mumbai. “Unless some of the illegally built highrise buildings are demolished, the mafia would not learn a lesson. I fully support Jairam’s move. I have also asked my officials to find out the irregularities in building the highrise apartments.”
