Patna, June 5: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) president Ram Vilas Paswan today attacked the Bihar government on issues of police atrocities in Forbesganj, killing of the doctor in Gopalganj and other irregularities during the first six months of Nitish Kumar’s second tenure.
“It is ironical that the Nitish government talks about good governance when crime incidents have increased from 1 lakh in 2005 to 1,36,000 in 2007-08,” Paswan said.
He added: “On Friday, people were killed by police in Forbesganj. The home secretary went to Gopalganj in a helicopter after the doctor was killed in jail. Why didn’t the helicopter go to save the life of that doctor when he was alive? Their ministers are proved absconders in courts. Nitish talks about special state status and they are propagating signature campaign. Why didn’t Nitish show the same enthusiasm when we were at the Centre during 1998-2004 in the BJP government?”
Paswan said: “Nitish, then, was not keen for a special status as he was afraid that the RJD government would benefit from it. The hype for a special status is a gimmick for the next elections.” On Baba Ramdev’s fast, Paswan said though he respects his campaign against corruption, he does not support his fast as it is held under the “banner” of RSS.
