Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Monday hit back at RJD chief Lalu Prasad, who had accused him two days ago of amassing property and stashing black money in foreign banks.

"I do not have a single property in my name, I do not even have a house in Patna," Paswan said.

"He (Lalu) is free to get my property probed from any agency. The flat which I have was bought by my son Chirag Paswan from the money he earned in the film industry and bank loan."

Chirag acted in one Hindi film, called Miley Naa Miley Hum (2011).

"I do not have a house in Delhi," Paswan said. "When I was MLA, I had bought a small plot of land in Kautilya Nagar (in Patna) which is exactly as it was. I do not have even Rs 5 lakh in my bank account. Hum to fakir hai (I am a pauper)."

Lalu had alleged Paswan owns a house worth crores in Patna, a farmhouse in Haryana, and had acquired government land in Mahnar, Vaishali, when he was Union minister of chemicals & fertilisers and steel.

"I am not like Lalu who gives jobs in lieu of land," Paswan alleged. "I challenge if anyone can charge Ram Vilas Paswan of taking a single paisa, I will retire from politics. I challenge Lalu to show me land or property which belongs to me; I will give it to him."

He said the land in Mahnar belongs to Steel Authority of India Limited.

He said Lalu had invited leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee and Mayawati for his August 27 rally in Patna to ensure crowds. "I dare Lalu to call the rally in his name only; then I will see how many people will attend the rally," Paswan said.

He lauded chief minister Nitish Kumar for returning to the NDA.

"Nitish had to choose between poison (read Lalu) and nectar (read Prime Minister Narendra Modi) and I am happy that he finally chose nectar," Paswan said.
