Patna, Oct. 7: JD(U) MP Shivanand Tiwari today drew flak from his party for calling BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi a “habitual liar”.
The JD(U) national spokesperson, Devesh Chandra Thakur, said: “I disapprove of the language used by Tiwariji. You cannot use such language against any person, not even your political enemy. It is against the basic human decency the JD(U) believes in. Tiwariji is a very senior leader and should understand this.”
The BJP is livid over Tiwari’s remarks. “We shall not use his language because our background does not allow it. But a lot of words could be used for Tiwariji,” said BJP leader and former minister Giriraj Singh.
Tiwari, the JD(U)’s Rajya Sabha MP, yesterday claimed that Modi was telling a “bunch of lies” about his involvement in the fodder scam.
On Saturday, Modi alleged that chief minister Nitish Kumar and Tiwari had taken money from the fodder scam prime accused, late Shyam Bihari Sinha.
Reacting to it, Tiwari said: “Modi, who I know since he used to wear shorts, is a habitual liar. I am into politics for the past 45 years and people know it that I even sold my house for my daughter’s marriage. Modi is the same person who used to talk about making Nitish the Prime Minister so that he could take the chief minister’s chair.”
The fodder scam has gained the centre stage of Bihar politics almost after a decade, prompting exchange of harsh words between the politicians.
Modi repeatedly raised the issue of alleged involvement of Nitish, Tiwari and Rajiv Ranjan alias Lallan Singh in the fodder scam.
The RJD has declared that the impartiality of the CBI would be put to test on November 22 when it files the affidavit in Jharkhand High Court on the allegation that the trio received kickbacks from scamsters.
