Patna: Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya or Simultala Residential School - one of the premier education institutions of the state - does not figure on the list of institutions where admission of students in Intermediate (Class XI) will be carried out though online facilitation system for students (OFSS).

Admission in 3,284 degree colleges and Intermediate schools has to be carried out through OFSS, but there is no mention of Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya. The OFSS list of institutions is district-wise in an alphabetic manner. Students applying through OFSS are dejected on not finding Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya on the list.

Under the OFSS, students were asked to submit the applications by July 16. However, finding students' problems, the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), which is carrying out the admission process, last week extended the application dates issuing new dates. Students were given three days from July 26 to apply.

However, many matriculation passouts found that Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya not on the list of institutions.

Manoj Kant, who has passed this year's matriculation examination with first division marks, said: "On the OFSS list, Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya's name is missing."

The student claimed: "We had the impression that admission to all Intermediate and degree colleges will be carried out through centralised admission process, OFSS. But Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya was not on the list."

The students' concern assumes importance, as in this year's Intermediate test, Abhinav Adarsh, the second science topper, who secured 421 marks is from Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya, Jamui. Similarly, Kusum Kumari, a student from Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya Simultala, with 424 marks has topped the arts stream.

The omission of Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya from the list of institutions assumes importance, as in March this year, when Bihar School Examination Board issued the tender for OFSS, the notice clearly mentioned that it is intended that from the 2018-19 academic session, OFSS may be extended to all Intermediate and degree colleges in Bihar.

The education department too has no information about how Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya was missing from the list of institutions.

Sushil Kumar, the director, higher education, said: "I don't know how Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya has been left out from the OFSS list of institutions. Maybe like Sainik School, the Jamui school will conduct its own admission process."

However, a senior administrative officer at Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya, said: "The school will carry out its own admission process through written test. However, as the school is up to Class XII, those students who have passed Class X and are interested to pursue Class XII studies will get lateral admission in Class XI."
