Students seeking admission in Patna University colleges in the next academic session can download applications forms online.

Many colleges under the university have decided to go for online admission from the coming session, cutting down on serpentine queues at counters on the campus for purchasing admission forms.

Among the colleges opting the online route for admission forms are Patna Science College, Patna Women's College, Magadh Mahila College and BN College. The administrations of these colleges have decided to go for the online admission process.

The undergraduate admission forms will be uploaded on the respective websites of the institutions from where students, after downloading the application form, can submit it through post. This will not only save time but also money and energy of admission seekers, who had to visit the colleges twice for purchasing and submitting filled up application forms.

After downloading the application form and filling it along with the requisite demand draft, students can send the form through post or submit it at the college counter.

Patna Science College principal U.K. Sinha said: "The undergraduate application form will be uploaded on the college website and students after downloading the form can send the it, along with a demand draft, to the college postal address."

The downloaded application form will also have the registration number and based on the registration number, students will be allotted examination centres for taking the entrance test.

The Patna Science College has decided to go for the online admission process, as there are many students from different districts of the state such as Darbhanga, Madhepura and Bhagalpur, seeking admission to Patna University colleges.

Under the new system, students don't have to visit the colleges for purchasing the admission forms. Apart from submitting the downloaded application forms, students can also purchase admission forms from the respective college counters.

The admission process at Patna University colleges is going to start from the first week of May. Admission to Patna University colleges is made through entrance test and application forms would be available both at the college counters and on the website from the first week of May. Though the new initiative is not fully online, it could be beneficial for students.

Welcoming the initiative, Gaurav Kumar, an intermediate student at AN College, said: "The new initiative will be helpful to those staying in other districts, as they don't have to visit colleges for application forms."

However, the student added that apart from just uploading the application form, the college administration should have gone for accepting online application forms just like premier institutions do.

While other colleges under Patna University would start the online process from May first week, the online admission procedure of Patna Women's College is already available on the college website - patnawomenscollege.in. Forms for admission to all the vocational courses, including mass communication, fashion designing and advertising, are available on the institution's website.
