Lalu Prasad’s daughter Misa Bharti and (right) BJP leader Gopal Narayan Singh flash victory signs at the Assembly after receiving their Rajya Sabha certificates on Friday. Misa arrived in brother Tejaswi’s car and spent around 15 minutes in the deputy chief minister’s chamber after getting the certificate. Apart from Misa, the other candidates who were elected to the Rajya Sabha include senior Supreme Court lawyer Ram Jethmalani, and Lalu Prasad’s close aide and MLA Bhola Yadav. JDU’s RCP Singh and Sharad Yadav were the other Grand Alliance leaders who collected their certificates. Five candidates from the Grand Alliance — Ghulam Rasool Baliabi and CP Sinha of the JDU, SM Qamar Alam and Ran Vijay Singh of the RJD, and Tanveer Akhtar of Congress — and two from the BJP (Vinod Narayan Jha and Arjun Sahni) were elected to the Legislative Council. Senior BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav congratulated Singh, Jha and Sahni and said all three will raise the concerns of the people in their areas. He also claimed the Grand Alliance did not field their fifth candidate for the Council because they feared the BJP.
