Nitish harps on Buddhism ties

Patna, June 18: The international university coming up at Nalanda with the co-operation of China, Japan and Singapore would promote research in finding out ways for settling the disputes among the countries and promote the spirit of brotherhood, Nitish Kumar said today at Beijing.

Inaugurating the two-day regional conference on the “History and Culture of Asia in the Context of Buddhism” on the concluding day of his seven-day trip to China, the Bihar chief minister said: “Originating from India Buddhist philosophy spread in many other important countries in Asia. The nations should find out the amicable solution to the disputes and observe universal peace, taking inspiration from Buddhism.”

The conference had been organised by the Indian embassy at Beijing in which the representatives from India, China, Nepal, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar and south Korea have been attending. The vice-president of the Beijing University, Li Qui Ing and Indian ambassador to China, S. Jaishankar welcomed the chief minister.

Earlier, the chief minister met Yan Jun Qui, vice-president of the National People’s Congress, the highest legislative body of China-and discussed several issues related to mutual interest between China and India. The discussion took place in a very amicable fashion, the sources said.

According to the schedule, Nitish also toured the Great Wall of China. The chief minister visited the Huwai Technology Company, which is the second largest company in the world producing equipment in telecommunications, which are sold in India and several other markets of the world. The company has its production outlets in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka too.

The experts of the company shared several know-how related to smart phones and broadband networking with the trade and business representatives accompanying Nitish, an official communiqué released by the Bihar government said.
