Union minister of state for human resources Upendra Kushwaha on Sunday called chief minister Nitish Kumar a curse for Bihar.

Kushwaha also termed him an inefficient man who had failed to run the state properly.

"Nitish Kumar is no more a man known for good governance and establishing the rule of law. He has now become an abhishap (curse) and shok (mourning) for Bihar," Kushwaha said, reacting to the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) paper leak issue.

Kushwaha said it was difficult to believe that so many irregularities were taking place without the knowledge of the chief minister.

"Nitish Kumar has been the chief minister for 15 long years and big scams are taking place in Bihar be it the BSSC paper leak case, topper scam or Intermediate scam. It is hard for me to believe that all the scams are taking place without the knowledge of the chief minister," Kushwaha said at the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) office.

Kushwaha, the national president of RLSP, accused that the scams are taking place with the consent of the chief minister.

"Would you believe that such big rackets whose network is spread over the entire state are going on without the knowledge of the chief minister? Nitish is aware of the scams. He is no more doing good governance. I repeat he has now become a curse for Bihar," Kushwaha said.

He accused the Nitish Kumar government of shielding the "powerful people" involved in the scams and said whenever the name of a politician surfaces in any scam, the government starts protecting them.

"It is good that people involved in the scams are being arrested but what about the big ones? Why is Nitish protecting them? The government is just doing formalities and that's the reason why I said Nitish has become a curse for Bihar," Kushwaha said.

He added that the people of the state are unhappy with the Nitish Kumar government, as it has failed on all fronts, including law and order.

He also criticised RJD chief Lalu Prasad over his comments against BJP national president Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Lalu ji is known for speaking nonsense and it is not necessary to always comment against him, but I must say he should wait for the UP election results. He will understand whose Holika Dahan it would be," Kushwaha said.

Lalu before going to address public rallies in Devaria in Uttar Pradesh had said that after the victory of Akhilesh Yadav in UP, Holika Dahan of the BJP will be performed.

Lalu was reacting to Modi's remarks, who had said that kesariya (saffron) Holi will be played in Uttar Pradesh.

Kushwaha added that the RLSP's fourth foundation day function would be held at Talkatora Park in New Delhi on March 5.
