Nitish's tribute to family
Chief minister Nitish Kumar pays tribute to his wife Manju Sinha at a memorial in Kankerbagh on her ninth death anniversary on Saturday. Nitish not only garlanded his wife's statue in Patna's Kankerbagh but also went to his home village Kalyanbigha in Nalanda district's Harnaut block to pay his respects. At Kalyanbigha, around 40km south of Patna, Nitish garlanded the statue of his freedom fighter father Kaviraj Ramlakhan Singh and mother Parmeshwari Devi at Smriti Vatika. Parmeshwari Devi passed away at the age of 92 on New Year's Day of 2011 at 1pm. She was staying with Nitish at the chief minister's official residence 1 Aney Marg at the time. On Saturday, as the chief minister paid his respects, he had his family next to him. His son Nishant Kumar, brother Satish Kumar, sisters Usha Devi and Indu Kumari also paid tributes to Manju Sinha, who died in 2007. Nitish also prayed at Devi Mandir in Kalyanbigha and sought peace and prosperity for the state's people, according to an official release. He stayed in the village for nearly half-an-hour and interacted with the local residents. Among leaders who went with Nitish to the Nalanda village were JDU Rajya Sabha member RCP Singh.
