Pilgrims set out for Haj

Patna: Bihar State Haj Committee (BSHC) dispatched the first batch of Haj pilgrims on Wednesday. Around 500 pilgrims flew to Delhi on a Go Air flight, said BSHC public relations officer Khurshid Anwar.SHC chairman Anisur Rahman Qasmi said he would pray for a safe journey for the pilgrims and wished them luck. About 5,575 pilgrims have submitted their documents for the pilgrimage this year. Batches would be sent to Delhi everyday till October 23.

New manager

Patna: K.K. Srivastava, of the Indian Railways Traffic Service batch of 1975 took over charge as general manager of East Central Railway on Wednesday. He has worked in several different positions with the railways, such as Thiruvananthapuramdivisional manager.

Arms seized

Patna: The Fulwari police have unearthed a mini gun factory at Lodhipur village under the Maner police station. Fulwari deputy superintendent of police Rakesh Dubey said one Gorakh Mochi was arrested on Tuesday afternoon and a countrymade pistol wasrecovered from him. After interrogating him, the police raided his house and recovered two pistols and a single bore gun.

Arrest

Patna: Constable Manoj Bihari, who has been absconding for the past 11 years, was arrested and sent to jail on Wednesday. Bihari was wanted in an Arms Act case. Gardanibag police station inspector Vinod Kumar said Bihari was hiding in a house in Takhanpur.
