TET hearing put off

Patna: A high court bench of Justice Navin Sinha on Wednesday posted the matter for hearing on a bunch of petitions challenging the state government’s decision to allow untrained persons to appear for the Teachers’ Eligibility Test for appointment of teachers in secondary and senior secondary schools. The court will hear the matter on Friday.he court had on Monday asked the government to produce documents showing relaxation given by either the Centre or National Council for Teachers Education.

Carnage ruling

Khagaria: A court in Khagaria on Wednesday convicted 14 people and acquitted as many persons in the Amausi carnage in which 16 farmers were shot dead by suspected Maoists in the district in 2009. Additional district and sessions judge C.B. Dwivedi fixed February 14 as the date to announce the quantum of sentence to those convicted.

Late FIR

Patna: State vigilance bureau on Tuesday registered an FIR under different sections of disproportionate assets case after 18 years of receiving complaint against former forest range officer (Muzaffarpur) Dadan Prasad.

Flight cancel

Patna: Jet airways’ Calcutta-bound flight, S2 403 was cancelled on Wednesday owing to technical reasons. The flight operating on Patna-Calcutta route is scheduled to arrive at Patna airport at 8.30pm and depart at 9pm.

Kidnap case

Patna: Mohammed Saahab, who had been held in New Delhi by a Patna police team, was brought to Patna on Wednesday, the police said.

Police plan

Patna: The police have started an initiative under which all the station house officers of the police stations have been asked to go to those households where children don’t attend schools and motivate the parents to send them to the same.

Arrests

Patna: The Government Railway Police on Wednesday arrested two pickpockets from the enquiry counter at Patna Junction. The duo have been identified as Kundan Kumar and Sunil Pandy. A sum of Rs 2,000 was also recovered from them.

Trains off

Patna: Railway has cancelled eight passenger trains on Wednesday owing to route relay interlocking work going at Patna Junction. Cancelled trains include Patna-Dehri-On-Sone Intercity Express, Rajendra Nagar Banka Express, Rajendra Nagar –Islampur Express, Buddh Poornima Express, Koshi Express, Patna-Gaya Passenger and Patna-Jhajha Passenger.
